Why Messy Church?

Why ‘Messy’?

Messy

because it describes each one of us, as no-one is perfect and each of us lead messy lives for many reasons

Messy

implies doing messy craft—While there will be messy activities, these are entirely optional and there will be plenty of things to do that don’t involve getting dirty

Messy

because our program, though based on a theme each time, is not watertight. There is room for spontaneity and flexibility and times will be ‘rubbery’

A typical program looks like this:
4.30 pm Chill Time: Registration & welcoming activities
4.45pm Creative Time: Craft, cooking and Games
5.40pm Celebration Time: Together in the church
6.00pm Chewing Time: Eating together
6.30pm Clean –up Time Go Home

We do ask people to consider a donation towards the running costs of Messy Church.
Costs involve staff time, feeding the multitudes and purchase of craft materials for 40 to 60 people each month.
