Easter Experience

A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act. Mahatma Gandhi

Christianity is the only religion on earth that has felt that omnipotence made God incomplete. Christianity alone has felt that God, to be wholly God must be a rebel as well as a king. G.K. Chesterton, English critic and author

For over fifteen consecutive years, the church will get out in full regalia for The Easter Experience.

As in past years, we invited Year 4 children from local schools in the area and as a new initiative, we invited Year 9 from Ravenswood, and challenged them to look at the Easter story in a new way with quite a different script. We are extending this Year 9 script to a version for adults to contemplate and explore the story.

The Easter Experience is staged each year with volunteer actors from our congregations, as our Church centre is transformed into Jerusalem 2000 years ago. For many children it is their first experience of the Easter story, and they walk through the scenes of The Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Trial of Jesus in the courtroom scene, and then experience the impact of the empty tomb, with Jesus re-appearing to assure them that he is alive.

A humorous take on our own experience is at Easter Experience - The Movie
