Plastic Free July is recognised around the world as an annual month of global change where individuals, businesses and governments come together to take action to reduce plastic waste. By sharing ideas, positive actions and stories of change, Plastic Free July helps people and organisations “choose to refuse” single-use plastic everyday.
Ku-ring-gai Council is actively supporting our local community to choose to refuse single-use plastics—encouraging us to join the challenge to eliminate single-use plastics. Together we can all do our part to help end plastic waste and alleviate the recycling crisis, reduce landfill waste, and mitigate the effects of climate change. Council is also hosting a series of free Zoom webinars to promote Plastic Free July. The first of these is a “Waste Not Workshop” on 23 June from 7:00-7:45pm with educator, author and change agent Alexx Stuart, from Low Tox Life. This workshop will focus on avoiding single-use plastics in the context of food, with Alex discussing how to reduce reliance on packaged food, before closing with a Q&A session.
